New York State Police troopers responded to Orchard Street in Poughkeepsie shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, to assist officers from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department with a domestic incident that had been reported inside a 2010 Mercedes-Benz S550 in the area.
Police were able to track down the vehicle, and while interviewing its occupants, multiple glassine envelopes used to package heroin were seen in plain view. Further investigation determined that Poughkeepsie resident Anthony Haylett, 31, was in possession of approximately 3.5 grams of crack cocaine, 0.51 grams of heroin, 2 grams of Suboxone, scales, plastic packaging bags, a box of glassine envelopes, and a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine.
Haylett was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
Following his arraignment in the Town of Wappinger Court, Haylett was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in the City of Poughkeepsie Court on Wednesday to answer the charges.
